Monday, 22nd June 2009 saw a welcome visit to our Club from Leo Palmer, FRPS, APAGB, EFIAP, with an enlightening (and very entertaining) show entitled "Altered Images". Showcasing some of his portfolio of work, Leo introduced us to his approach to the digital manipulation of images. With "improved" skies being "dropped in" left, right and centre and "dodging and burning" here, there and everywhere, it was a whistle-stop tour indeed! There was even the occasional reference to "traditional" printing techniques thrown in, as a means of comparing/contrasting the old "wet" practices with today's digital darkroom tools (Ahh... bromoil... that takes me back!). The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone present, and we look forward to Leo's next visit to our Club. Sterling stuff! |
